Adopt a Terrier / Pekingese / Mixed (long coat)

My name is Belle.  I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR), a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area.   I came to CCR from a shelter in Houston, Texas after my owner passed away and I was found wandering the streets.   I have been through a rough time but I have come a long way.  CCR has been told I am a Terrier/Pekinese mix breed and am about 8 years old and 14 lbs but that is just a guess made by shelter staff, rescue volunteers, and our veterinarians.   

Belle will be amazing for that special someone or a couple who have patience and love to give this little girl!  She loves going for walks and if there is a yard she enjoys quietly exploring.  Sitting beside you or on you to watch TV is date night to her and she will give you tons of kisses and licks.  Belle goes potty outside so if you have no yard she will need those potty walks several times a day.  She is happily vocal at dinner time to let you know she would like you to share that gourmet meal of yours. Belle LOVES bananas!  She can peel them on her own so you have to teach her portion control and only give her a piece or two a week!  Belle loves to wake you in the morning by hopping on the bed and climbing onto your chest to chuff good morning!!  Her smiles are such a joy!  

Belle barks to let you know if strangers are at the door.  A small fenced yard is fine for her.  She is timid with new People trying to pick her up and she may react by nipping at them out of fear but if they just ignore her at the meeting and let her come to them on her own she will warm up to them and ask them for belly rubs.    

With Belle being insecure at times, children are not a great idea for her to be around since fear can make her nip if she is grabbed but in time that might be possible.  She can tolerate other dogs being around her but she wants to be an only dog.  She has never been around a cat but seeing how she prefers being an only dog she probably doesn’t want a cat taking your time.  For now if she can find that patient Mom and or Dad who is not on the go all the time she will do wonders in their calm home!
